Peeling ceiling paint, broken safe in room, no conditioner in room, gift shop closed for no reason 15 minutes early. . . front desk could not help me as a third party runs the shop

Located conveniently near Michigan Avenue and within walking distance from great restaurants and bars! Lobby had that classic elegant feel and the rooms were approximate size!
The city noise was a little louder than I thought it would be on an upper level

Helpful staff and clean room.
Quite far from Orchestra Hall.

Room was great & location convenient to shopping.
Check in took forever! Not enough staff to deal with checking in and checking out rush, over 10 people waiting in line.

We expected a nicer room for what we ordered and paid. The hotel is very dated. Old excercuse equipment, marred woodwork. Etc. not in keepin with this hotel 5 or 10 years ago. 3 stars max.
Paying for a suite and settling for a first floor dark room with one windows that looked over the AC ductwork.

Liked the location, staff is friendly, and room was large
My room faced the busy Michigan Ave and the windows didn't do well to block noise. My room didn't have a mini fridge, Not a big problem but the hotel charges $75 dollar per day for incidentals but without a fridge what are incidentals? Not much

Nothing! The location is great, but it did not make up for how horrible this hotel was!
The hotel in general was just horrible! Outdated, dirty walls, small rooms, horrible stale smell, yelling in the room next to us, I could hear their toilet flush and bath water running, the beds were very small! This was NOT a 4 star, $--- room!

The location and bar
The room wasn't what I thought it would be and the chipping paint on the ceiling.

Yes there was plenty. Starting with the hotel workers union strike .

I love the atmosphere and the overall design of the hotel.
Due to the strike that most of the employees were on it affected my stay because the rooms werent ready for 4 hours after check in time. They did give me a 30 dollar voucher for the bar and restaurant area downstairs but I still deem it unacceptable.

Old fashioned. Classy but not stuffy. Clean. Location is great.
Wouldn't say I disliked anything but the rooms are on the small side. But for one night with 2 people (could easily sleep 2-3 more if necessary), it was fine.

The location
Tub was dirty; had hair in it and when I called to have it cleaned, I was charged $7

location
Very small & outdated tv's for such a historic hotels. Complained & they said all rooms have same size tv's (34") Went to get some ice, so a door open with larger tv, called to speak to manager, who allowed me to change rooms. 42" tv! Upset with lie!
